Professional Profile
I am a visual artist, community artist and MA in Art Expertise, based in Tampere, Finland. My artistic work combines visual expression, aesthetics, philosophical thinking and human encounter. At the core of my work are the aesthetics of ageing, lived experience and the search for human presence through art – also when words are not enough.
I am one of the first full-time employed community artists in the Finnish social and health care sector. My field is cultural eldercare and the structural development of art within care environments. Since 2017, I have worked at Sointu Senior Services, developing permanent art practices within care – not as separate short-term projects but as long-term, integrated cultural work that promotes accessibility of art and aesthetic agency.
I also work as a speaker, trainer and facilitator at the intersection of art, care and society. I have given numerous talks, lectures and training sessions on cultural well-being, the ethics of artistic encounter and arts-based methodologies for various audiences locally, nationally and internationally. My book Courage to Face – An Artist in Elderly Care (Taike, 2023) addresses the ethical and artistic dimensions of encounter in care environments.
