Community artist from Tampere, Finland
My work as community artist includes teaching art groups and leading community art projects, collaborating multidisciplinary nursing staff, and operating in cultural well-being networks also doing educational work on cultural well-being field. Sointu Senior Services made significant contribution when hiring me for social field - possibly as first full-time community artist in Finland.
I often find my painting subject in Finnish nature and its mystical wildness. Humor goes hand in hand with romantic expression in my works. It is interesting to describe different characters and through them to describe warmly features of our human beings. Being woman and looking my own history through the superheros is way to deal with the paradoxical and abnormal dimensions of life and past. My style is gently expressive. My pictures are a wordless aesthetic speech.
I use different medias when painting. I am inspired paint and draw digitally. I have also painted with acrylic paints, karnauba wax and mixed media on canvas for years. I like to mix traditional medias with new ones, such as analog and digital painting. Art history and current pictures in the media are inexhaustible source of enthusiasm for making art.
Currently, I work for Sointu Senior Services as a community artist and as a designer making illustrations, book cover art ja graphic design.
Children's books and writers, in particular Tove Jansson, have influenced my artistic expression. Now I have had a unique opportunity to illustrate my first children's book. Author of the Book is Jarmo Teinilä my spouse. We have created world of fairytale and we feed each other’s artistic work.
Previously, I worked at Sastamala College as a teacher of fine arts. I did many collaborative projects with the local cultural artist and operators of Sastamala area.
